Whew!

I feel a little like something’s missing with the A to Z Challenge being over. But I have so many things to catch you guys up on now!

  • Ian downloaded a random number generator app, and Rainbow Catcher was the winner of my April bag giveaway! I’ve already got it cut out, and I’ll e pinning after I post this. Do tell me you like sequins–I have a perfect match for your bag. Just one row, no overkill, I promise!
  • What shall I give away next? I’m open to suggestions!
  • We had pop-up pizza pie for dinner last night. No pics, but it turned out just like Lynn’s did. So yummy! I used some Italian seasoned ground turkey (gotta love clearance meats, y’all!), and we are definitely going to have it again.
  • I learned tonight that I have apparently missed Facebook. I downloaded the app last week for NIAW and spammed my friends with links, then deleted it again Sunday, because who needs it, right? But then one of Ian’s coworkers invited a bunch of people to karaoke tonight, and this one girl had to spoil a perfectly fine comment thread by being a grammar nazi. Yes, spelling is important, but jeez, let it go if it’s a perfectly readable word. I can’t stand that. And when I pointed that out without namecalling, she decided I was being a bitch. I just couldn’t let it go, because if you want to be a grammar nazi, proofread your own comments. So I admit it, I stooped to a high school level on Facebook. Shame on me!
  • Seriously, WTF Warner, yanking titles from Netflix. So annoying.
  • It’s birthday month here! Mine on the 12th, Abby’s on the 19th, and Ian’s on the 23rd. Along with my brother’s, my cousin’s, Cheryl’s, and my parents’ anniversary. Let us make it through!
  • And Maggie nominated me for a Liebster Award! I’ll get to that post tomorrow. Thank you Maggie!
  • Oh! One more thing. Abby has a new friend. The catch? She’s in sixth grade. She’s come over almost every day this week. She’s a nice enough girl, a little shy, but what can I say about that? There just aren’t any other girls her age in our neighborhood. Also, we have a pool. When Ian talked to her mom she sounded happy about it, so while it seems a little odd, at least she and Abby have fun. So, whatevs.
  • That may be all, or I may have forgotten one of the things I meant to say when I started. I’m sure I’ll remember in the middle of the night. I’ll leave you with a picture of Abby sporting her Bubble Guppies shirt, Grandma Inez-made shorts, and new dinosaur bag

    Goaltending

    I have been lax.

I have not been updating my goals or emptying my inbox weekly.

I can make excuses, but I know they’re just excuses. So it’s time to play catch-up.

    Goals:

    1. I will complete a first draft of my next novel by April 1. I admit it. I am super far behind on the word count I intended to have by March. Looks like I’m going to be doing an unscheduled NaNoWriMo to get myself back on track. But I did it once, I can do it again!
    2. Every Sunday by bedtime my inbox will be empty and the posts I intend to comment on will be commented on. Yup. Been slacking for a while now. I’ve got over a hundred waiting there for me as we speak. Best get to it.
    3. I will make a quilt from that stack of bandannas by the time it’s cold enough to need it this fall. Find bag of bandannas: check. Research quilting: check. Begin to practice by sewing doll and baby quilts: begun. Is that a check then? I’m not sure. I won’t count it. But I have several months for this one. It’s on the back burner until April, starting today.
    4. I will make and share one new goal every week this year. Behind! I shall list my goals and post them by tomorrow, catching myself up. So if you look, you’ll read five new goals tomorrow. Hold me to it!
    5. I will do one touristy thing this year that Ian has been asking about for forever. No ideas on this one yet, other than Cafe du Monde. But right now, touristy isn’t in the budget. Money or time.
    6. I will make dinner to Pandora at least one night a week, every week. This one I have been doing. Check!
    7. I will return to weekly menu planning. I have not. Well, I haven’t written any down. I’ve planned aloud. Okay, that doesn’t count.
    8. I will moisturize more faithfully than once in a blue moon–like, say, once a week to start with. Yay! I’ve been doing this one.
    9. I will make more frivolous goals until I am caught up on what needs to be done. Yup.
    10. I will make time to breathe every week. I have been breathing, but as needed, not because I made time. I need to prioritize this more. If I make time to breathe, I will be better prepared to handle what life throws at me when it’s thrown, instead of spending so much time recuperating.

Let’s see where that puts me. Okay, two of those are on hold, so out of eight, I have kept up with three, as planned. But I hope to be able to report a much higher number tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

    I’m So Behind

I have plenty of half- or nearly-finished drafts staring at me right now, but for the past two days I’ve been spending time with my husband when possible, or baking espresso biscotti (I found the recipe here, they came out pretty tasty), and today I made taco potato soup pancakes for breakfast.

Our daughter had a vaccination Monday (more on that adventure later), and she’s not quite back to her normal chipper self yet, but at least she’s been taking longer naps again. Silver lining!

Yesterday seven o’clock could not come fast enough, and when it was finally seven, election results couldn’t come in fast enough for me. I’m right next door to Mississippi in Louisiana, and I can imagine how quickly we’d follow suit if 26 had passed. But yay! I haven’t cared so much about results since 2004.

So today, grocery shopping, and maybe something nice for dinner. We’ll see. Maybe at naptime I’ll finish one of those drafts.

Also, best search term? ‘I’m a lunatic.’
