Interview Tomorrow

And I totes forgot to take a picture of my new chair for you. It does, however, look very similar to this one, with a little added bird poop:

I’m probably going to paint it.

Anyway, wish me luck for tomorrow!

Interviews are always friendly, but awkward and stilted conversations, for both you and them. So remember this: You know who you are, so who are these people asking you these questions? You owe it to yourself to take the time to analyze. You want to do your best, of course! But don’t forget that interviews work both ways. The ultimate goal is to come away feeling like you had a congenial “shop talk.” And, if you come away feeling like you participated in a staff meeting more than an interview, then … BAM! You liked them as much as they liked you. But, if you come away with any “huh” responses, or any red flag reactions, then you need to take a job offer with a very healthy grain of salt (or not be bummed out if none comes along. Red flags are a healthy indicator that it might not be a good fit for you or them). Gut Trust. It’s all any of us has to work with sometimes.

    So?! How’d it go?

    • April says:

Idk. It was a form interview, so of course I had excellent answers, but she was in a bad mood when I got there. And she wasn’t the manager I spoke to yesterday, but the assistant. She said he’ll call me tomorrow to let me know an answer.

      • LRose says:

The worst! Especially since she’s not the manager. Hope you can read between the lines with her situation and that your conversation tomorrow with him is productive. Your job now? Be a writer. What’s her back story? She doesn’t know you, so why wear her bad mood so clearly on her sleeve? Bad form to interview someone and behave like that, so…what’s the passive/aggressive thang all about with her, hmm?
